Light through the weave. A counter stool with an open-weave natural rattan back and a deep woven seat on a near-black mahogany frame.
Altilia is all about contrast: pale natural rattan against a mahogany frame finished so dark it reads almost black. The back is an open square grid edged in a braided rattan border, so light passes straight through and a row of stools keeps the view across the kitchen open.
The seat is a deep woven box, tighter on top and basket-woven around the sides, with the rattan wrapped down over the tops of the front legs. Below, gently tapered square legs are tied by a low frame of four stretchers that doubles as a footrest. Rattan tones vary a little from stool to stool. Set it against white marble and pale oak for a fresh, coastal kitchen, or with travertine and black hardware for a warmer, modern look.
