Two blocks of burl. A 43-inch rectangular coffee table in natural burl wood veneer: a thick block top overhanging a smaller, recessed block base.
Biella is built from two plain shapes. The top is a closed block 7.9 inches thick with crisp square corners, and it rests on a lower, smaller block set well back underneath, so the top overhangs on all four sides and a band of shadow runs round the base. With no legs, drawers or hardware, the burl does all the talking.
Every face is wrapped in natural burl wood veneer over MDF: a light honey-tan ground with soft wavy figure and scattered clusters of small dark burl eyes. Because burl comes from irregular growth in the tree, the pattern never repeats, and in some light it shows a faint pale shimmer. The top is rated for 260 pounds. Pair it with a cream linen sofa and a jute rug for a sunlit Mediterranean feel, or with cognac leather and a faded rug for a warmer loft.
For a matching burl look, set our Tiriolo burl pillar side table beside the sofa.

Coffee Table Dimensions
The idea
Honey burl, two quiet blocks.
A thick burl top floats over a smaller recessed base: a low, solid-looking coffee table with one warm, patterned surface and nothing else to distract from it.
The details
Look closer. We did.
Photographed up close, because texture, seams and joinery are where quality shows.
In the room
Long enough for a full sofa.
At 43 inches long, 25.6 inches deep and 13.8 inches high it fits in front of a three-seat sofa or a compact sectional, with room to walk round it.
