Calopezzati is drawn in a few clean lines. A single Y-shaped splat rises from the seat to a curved rail that wraps around your back and doubles as a low armrest, and the front legs rise just past the seat in rounded tops. With so much open space around it, a row of stools stays light on the eye, even in a smaller kitchen.
The frame is solid ash under a black oil-based stain, so the grain can show faintly through, and the seat is paper cord woven by hand in a pale natural tone that stands out against the black. Four slim round stretchers give your feet a place to rest. Set it at a concrete or white oak island for a clean modern kitchen, or against warm plaster and brass for a softer look.
