At the head, each side rail rises in one straight, sloping line into a wedge-shaped wing that runs back to the full height of the headboard, so the head of the bed feels sheltered without closing in.
Between the wings the headboard is plain, with one low bolster band just above the mattress.
The wings and headboard rise to 40.1 inches; the deep rails stay at 12.8. Both wings and the headboard are padded with foam, so there is something soft to lean back against.
