Cervicati keeps to a few clean lines. The rear legs run straight up past the seat to become a low open back, closed by a thick rounded rail just 5.5 inches above the seat: enough to lean on lightly, and handy as a handle when you pull the stool out. The 16-inch square seat is gently dished for comfort, and its thin bevelled edge keeps the whole stool looking light.

Ash is a strong, resilient hardwood, and here it wears a pale natural blonde finish that shows off its open grain, so every seat carries its own pattern. Four round legs splay slightly outward for a steady stance, and a thin black iron ring at 10.5 inches gives your feet a place to rest. Pair it with white oak and travertine for a calm, bright kitchen, or with dark stone and timber for a warm chalet feel.
