Cessaniti's vertical reeds run all around the apron, front, ends and back, and carry straight across the single centred drawer, so all you see of it is a fine outline and one small brass-toned knob. Solid rubberwood and rubberwood veneer give it a warm natural-blonde colour with fine straight grain and the odd darker streak, and the tone shifts slightly from reed to reed, so no two desks are quite alike.
Because it is finished on every side, it can float in the middle of a room or face a window as neatly as it stands against a wall. A 1-inch top keeps the profile light, four square legs taper to slim feet, and with no stretchers the 26.5 inches under the apron stay clear for your knees and a chair. Style it with linen and stone for a coastal study, or white panelling and brass for a classic Parisian look.
