Davoli puts a deep ebony round at the heart of the room: a place for four to sit close, pass the dishes and stay a while. The base sits well inside the 54-inch top, with 29 inches from the floor to its underside, so knees and chairs fit all the way round.
The top is oak veneer with a textured surface. Its open grain holds a soft pale tone that shows as fine silvery lines against the near-black wood, so it never looks flat, and the grain pattern differs from table to table. A slim 1.5-inch top with a clean square edge sits on three plain slabs that meet in a Y, graphic from every angle. Set it on a pale rug under white beams for a bright loft look, or by a stone fireplace with brass candlesticks for warm country.
