Dipignano is all about the seat: a thick, softly rounded cushion in nubby chenille, with paler slubs and sandy flecks that give the ivory fabric depth and a soft, low sheen. Behind it, a single curved wooden splat carries a low padded back, so you get real support while the space between seat and back stays open and the island still looks uncluttered.

Four tapered wood legs in a pale, cerused finish lean gently outward, tied by a stretcher box about 8 inches off the floor. The front rail is capped with a brushed-steel plate, so feet rest on metal rather than on the wood. With a 27-inch seat, the pair suits standard kitchen counters. Style them with white stone and oak for a bright coastal kitchen, or set them against a dark island for contrast.
