Pale, soft-cornered, calm. A 66-inch dresser in cerused light elm veneer, with six extra-large drawers, rounded corners and brushed-nickel pulls.

Este is a long, low case with nothing sharp about it: the front corners are rounded from top to bottom, the flat top sits flush with the sides, and two long pad feet lift it just off the floor. The elm veneer is cerused, so a chalky white settles into the open pores and the arched figure reads as fine pale lines on a sand-beige ground.

There are no knobs to catch a sleeve. Along the top of each row a brushed-nickel fingertip pull is set into the drawer edge, three slim lines of light across the front. Behind them sit six extra-large drawers with tinted interiors, built with French dovetails at the front and English dovetails at the back, on metal glides. Style it with a round mirror and olive branches for a Mediterranean feel, or with pale linen and oak for Scandinavian calm.

A pull set into the edge

At the rounded corner of the case, the brushed-nickel pull curves down into the top edge of the drawer, so the front stays flush and smooth.

Three rows, two pad feet

Six drawers sit in three rows under a flush top, each row with its own pull line, and two long pad feet lift the case just off the floor.

Arched elm figure

Cerusing fills the elm's open pores with white, so each arch of the grain shows as a fine pale line on a sand-beige ground.
