Tall walnut, golden details. A 34-inch tall chest in warm walnut veneer, with five full-width drawers, sunburst knobs and gold-tone leg caps.

Grado keeps its outline simple and saves the detail for close range. One narrow beveled frame, mitered at the corners, surrounds all five drawers, and each drawer carries two small knobs set on round backplates fluted like a sunburst. The top, sides and fronts are walnut veneer with open pores and soft cathedral figure, finished satin so the wood still looks like wood.

Underneath, an open stand with straight aprons curves down in small arches into four round tapered legs, each ending in a brass-finish cap, so there is air and floor beneath the case. Five full-width drawers on ball-bearing glides, built with English dovetails, stack a lot of storage into a 34-inch footprint. Style it with pale linen and a pleated lamp for a soft mid-century room, or with deep green walls and cane for something warmer.

Caps, arches and a sunburst

A round leg ends in a satin gold-tone cap, the apron above curves down to meet it in a small arch, and a fluted sunburst knob sits just above.

Five drawers, one frame

Beside the bed it reads as one quiet upright block: flat walnut sides, a flat top and a single beveled frame around five even drawers.
