Tall storage, small footprint. A 38-inch chest of five drawers, just over 50 inches tall, in wire-brushed sand wash veneer on slim brass-finish legs.
The sand wash finish is wire-brushed in eleven steps, which opens the grain into fine pale and darker lines you can see and feel. It is real wood veneer, so the figure shifts from drawer to drawer and no two chests look quite alike. The front corners are rounded into soft quarter-round posts and the thin top has rounded corners too, so a tall piece reads gentle rather than boxy.
Two shallow drawers at the top, the first lined in soft felt, keep jewelry, socks and small things in order, and three deep drawers below take sweaters and folded linen. Each full-width drawer has two round knobs in an aged brass finish, and two curved metal sleds in the same finish lift the case about 4 inches off the floor on four slim legs. Style it with washed linen and terracotta for a warm, sunlit room, or with black accents and pale plaster for something more modern.
