Tall, dark, softly rounded. A tall 35-inch chest of five drawers in near-black elm veneer, with rounded corners and dowel pulls in brass-tone loops.

Lusiana stands 50 inches tall on a footprint just 35 inches wide, so five drawers of storage take up very little floor. The peppercorn stain is close to black, yet the open elm grain still reads through it as faint charcoal lines, and it changes from drawer to drawer because the elm veneer is real wood, laid over solid wood and MDF.

The top rolls down into the sides in rounded corners, and a narrow rounded frame outlines the five equal drawers, which slide on ball-bearing guides. Each opens with a long wooden dowel held off the front by two antique-brass-finish loops, and a low rail on four square tapered legs keeps the tall case light at the floor. Style it with cognac leather and charcoal linen, or with pale plaster and raw oak for contrast.

Each pull is a round wooden dowel stained to match the case, held off the drawer by two open loops in an antique brass finish, its end grain showing.
