Some chairs just fill a place at the table; Mendicino gives it a shape. The tall back is open, so the room, the window or the view beyond stays in sight, and at only 17.7 inches wide, more chairs fit along each side of the table.
The back is a panel of round natural rattan canes laid on the diagonal around a laced cross, so they ring it in diamonds, and every part of the mahogany frame above the legs is wound in thin rattan peel in a greywashed mix of honey and greige. Rattan is natural, so you'll see nodes along each cane and slight shifts in tone from chair to chair. Below, square legs are left as bare wood in a soft grey-taupe finish, and a loose warm-white cushion ties to the back posts and lifts off. Set it beside travertine and concrete for a calm villa look, or with pale oak and sea light for a coastal room.
Line them along our Plataci knotty oak veneer table, or gather them round our Scigliano round table, both in a greige finish that suits the washed rattan.
