A 55-inch console table in black. The thin racetrack top, with straight sides and fully rounded ends, is oak veneer finished black, so the open grain still shows as a fine grey texture. Under it sits a rounded apron box with two flush drawers and no hardware; each drawer is 14 by 9.2 inches inside and 2.6 inches deep. The table stands on two curved legs, one at each end and as deep as the table itself: their outer faces are cut with fine vertical reeds that wrap around the rounded ends, and their inner faces are flat and plain. There is no shelf or stretcher between the legs, so the floor stays open. At 13.8 inches deep it suits a hallway, an entry or the space behind a sofa. The top and drawer fronts are oak veneer over MDF, and the frame and reeded legs are MDF and plywood with a black painted finish. The veneer is natural, so the grain varies from table to table.
