Montalto keeps the form plain, one long upholstered block with rounded corners and no tufting, and lets the fabric bring the warmth. The cover is a synthetic sherpa, a dense pile of small tight curls that looks like lamb's fleece and runs unbroken over every edge. Underneath, a solid pine and plywood frame carries a foam-filled body.

At 15.5 inches high and 20.5 inches deep it works at the foot of a queen or king bed, in front of a sofa or along a hallway wall, as extra seating or a place to rest your feet. Four round legs in a warm walnut tone lift it 4.5 inches off the floor. Pair it with pale oak, linen and stone for a soft, tonal room, or let the ivory stand out against darker wood.
