- A thin top on slatted ends: The top is a flat slab 0.78 inches thick with a plain square edge. Under it, narrow vertical slats follow the curve of each rounded end and run along the front apron, with dark gaps between them.
- Open between the ends: Seen at an angle, the two rounded ends read as solid slatted pedestals, and the space between them stays open to the floor under the apron. Their inner faces are plain.
- Black, with the grain showing: The top is wood veneer finished in black. Its open grain stays visible as fine pale lines when the light crosses it, and the surface is matte rather than glossy.
