Palermiti is a chair you settle into: a thick padded seat, 21 inches wide and 22 deep, with arms at your sides, built on a plywood frame with foam padding. Every surface is wrapped in fine ivory boucle, small white loops over a warm oatmeal base, soft to the touch and matte in any light. Put one at each end of the table and the room has a focal point.
One level band forms the back and arms, and the chair stands on three flat legs, two at the front and one centred at the back, with two open windows in the back to keep the form light. The arms are 30 inches high, level with the back, so it stands pulled out rather than tucked under the table. The looped boucle gives a soft, speckled surface that shifts a little with the light. Try it at a pale oak table with linen, in a classic room of marble and parquet, or as an accent chair in a living room or bedroom.
Set one at each end of our Bova oval table, or bring two to the Malvito round pedestal table for a soft, sculptural pairing.
