Changes with the light. An 84-inch rectangle in wheat-toned white oak veneer laid in a geometric pattern, on two faceted pedestals set well in from the ends so six sit in comfort.
The top is American white oak veneer over MDF and solid wood, laid in big panels with the grain turned lengthwise, crosswise and on the diagonal. Each panel catches the light differently, so the surface shifts in tone from breakfast to dinner. Real veneer means the figure and tone vary slightly panel to panel, which is exactly what gives the pattern its depth.
Two sculptural faceted pedestals flare toward the floor and end in a pointed foot, under a thick, square-cut edge with crisp corners and no apron. With nothing between the pedestals, six sit comfortably along the sides and a chair fits at each end. Style it with travertine and sea light for a calm coastal room, or under a gilt mirror for a modern take on classic.
