Plataci is made for the long, unhurried dinner. At 84 inches it seats eight, and with no legs at the corners the heads of the table are as comfortable as the sides. The two pedestals stand about 15 inches in from each end with nothing between them, so knees and feet have the whole length of the table.
The top doesn't keep to hard straight lines: the long sides move in gentle waves, the corners flare out softly, and a thick, rounded edge rests easy under your forearms. The surface is English knotty oak veneer over a solid wood and MDF build, in a matte, weathered greige with strong grain and small dark knots that vary from table to table, and at about 267 pounds it stands grounded and steady. Pair it with linen and stoneware against concrete and glass, or with a gilded mirror and herringbone floors for a softer classic look.
