The Portopalo story

A fire pit that keeps low.

Portopalo is a long, low block of fluted concrete, 48.2 inches long and only 12.6 inches high.

One long burner runs down the middle of the flat top, so the flame reads as a single calm line.

A round fluted piece in the same dark gray comes with it.

The design

Fluted all round, flat on top.

A rounded rectangle 48.2 inches long and 27 inches deep, with fine vertical flutes on every side and a smooth rim around the burner.

The materials

Lightweight concrete, dark gray.

Both pieces are cast in lightweight concrete (listed material: magnesium oxide) in a dark gray finish.

The fluting is part of the casting, so it runs unbroken from the top rim to the base.

50,000 BTU

One long propane burner rated at 50,000 BTU, for light and warmth around the seating.

Propane only

It runs on propane gas only and connects to a standard size propane tank.

No assembly

Place the lava rocks in the pit without covering the burner, plug in the tank and light it.

The fire pit

One burner, one line of flame.

The burner sits in one long recessed opening in the middle of the flat top, filled with lava rocks.

Each end has a handle slot, and the control knob and igniter sit in a niche on the front.

  • Round piece 17″ W × 19.9″ H
  • Output 50,000 BTU
  • Fuel Propane only
  • Material Lightweight concrete, dark gray

The profile

Long and low.

At 12.6 inches high it sits below the seat of most outdoor sofas and lounge chairs, so the flame stays in view across the group.

The body stands on a slightly inset base, which keeps the fluted sides clean down to the ground.
