Reeded wood, one black line. A tall 40-inch chest in warm ash brown, with five reeded drawers and matte black bar pulls lined up down the middle.

Fine vertical reeds run across both sides of every drawer front, so light falls over the chest in narrow ribs through the day. Down the center, a plain strip of wood interrupts the reeds on each drawer and carries one slim black bar, and the five bars line up into a single broken line from top to bottom. The sides and top are ash veneer with a long, straight, open grain.

Behind the fronts are five full-width drawers on metal extension glides: a shallower one at the top for small things and four deeper ones for sweaters, jeans and linen. The case is rounded at its front edges, and a black plinth set back at the floor makes it seem to hover. Try it with cream boucle and a black iron lamp, or with rattan and olive green for a warmer mix.

Pairs with our Senorbi nightstand, cut with the same reeds and finished in the same Ash Brown.

Black bars on plain strips

On each drawer a flat wood strip breaks the reeds, and a square matte black bar runs down it. Drawer after drawer, the bars stack into one line.

Tall by the window

Rounded front corners, five reeded drawers and a dark recessed plinth: the chest stands upright between the window light and the bed, a lamp and a vase on top.

Straight ash grain

The side panels are ash veneer with long, straight grain and open pores, so the figure differs a little from panel to panel.

In the room

Height instead of width.

Forty inches across and 52 high, Soave suits a wall too narrow for a dresser, and its top sits at a good height for a reading light and a dish.
