Held in one curve. A set of two compact barrel-back arm chairs, a burnished black ash veneer shell wrapped around a thick cream woven seat, open behind and made for the heads of the table.
Soriano wraps you in one smooth curve. The shell rises around your back and sides, then opens into a clean arc behind, so you feel held from the front while the chair stays light from every other angle. The 19.25-inch seat is true dining height, and the padded back and thick seat keep you comfortable through the last course.
Outside, the shell is ash veneer over bent plywood in a burnished black that lets warm bronze glint through the open grain, so the black has depth rather than a painted look, and the grain differs a little on every chair. Inside, a nubby cream woven fabric is edged with neat self-piping, and four tapered legs, the rear pair raked back, give a steady stance. Style the pair with white panelling and a gilt mirror for Paris-apartment polish, or with concrete, oak and linen for a calm modern room.
