Taurianova gives an entry two jobs in one piece. Sit on the tan buffalo hide leather cushion to pull on your shoes, then put them away in the two pull-out drawers below, along with scarves, gloves or spare linens. Each drawer front is made of four horizontal planks with a short knurled brass pull, so it reads as furniture rather than storage.

The frame is solid mango wood in a light natural finish, with open arms at each end and one solid board as a low backrest. Mango grain and colour streaks run through every piece, and the leather tone varies from hide to hide. At 13.8 inches deep it fits a narrow hallway or the end of a bed; style it with plaster, black hooks and a wool throw for a loft, or flagstones and a woven basket for a country boot room.
