- A sunburst over the edge: The top is carved with lines that radiate from the centre like a sunburst, and at the rim they meet the vertical grooves of the side, with no band or trim between them.
- A pale drum beside the sofa: Seen at an angle it is a straight cylinder 18 inches across with no legs and no base, and the fine vertical lines catch the light from the side.
- Cut by hand, washed white: Up close the grooves wander slightly in width and spacing, as hand-cut work does. The whitewash sits on the ridges and leaves the warm brown wood showing in the cuts, with a matte, lightly distressed finish.

Fine vertical grooves run all the way round the side from the top to the floor, and the flat top is carved with lines that radiate from the centre like a sunburst. A whitewash finish settles into the carving, so the raised ridges read chalky white and the grooves show the warm brown wood beneath. It is hand-carved wood, so the lines vary slightly in width and spacing from table to table.
