- Where the facets meet: At each cut corner an upper and a lower facet tilt in to a crisp horizontal crease, beside the pointed end of the long side face. Three flat planes, three straight edges, each one lit a little differently.
- A low, cut block: Seen at an angle the table reads as one closed faceted block on the floor, octagonal on top and pinched in at every corner. There are no legs, no drawers and no opening, just flat faces of wood.
- Walnut stain over acacia grain: A deep chocolate-brown walnut stain over acacia veneer shows fine straight-to-wavy grain and soft darker streaks. The finish is satin, with a soft sheen rather than a gloss.

The flat top is an octagon, a square with its corners cut off, and the closed body below it is made of twelve flat faces: a long pointed hexagon on each side and an hourglass pair of angled facets at each corner. At 17 inches high and just over 73 pounds, it sits flat on the floor with no legs and no visible hardware, and every face catches the light a little differently.
